AdapCS, Inc. of Marina, California has announced that Kurt Sligar, M.D., M.H.A., has assumed an equity position in AdapCS and will serve as the company's President and CEO. Dr. Sligar had previously served as Business Development Director for AdapCS and was responsible for establishing AdapCS Canada, a partially owned subsidiary. He currently serves as CEO of AdapCS Canada and will continue in that role until local management is recruited.
Dr. Kurt Sligar is an executive with over 15 years of leadership positions in a variety of healthcare organizations. He brings management experience in operations, strategic planning, acquisitions, restructuring, business startup and clinical program development. He is a nationally recognized healthcare consultant and has developed healthcare informatics and biotech startups.
Dr. Sligar served as Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts. BCBSMA is New England's largest health insurer with over 2.3 million members.
Prior to joining Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, Dr. Sligar served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Catholic Health Initiatives, a 72-hospital system based in Denver, Colorado. Previously he was Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of Catholic Healthcare West, a 30-hospital system headquartered in San Francisco. He also served as Chief Medical Officer for Sutter Health System in Northern California. He practiced neurology before beginning his administrative career.
As CEO for AdapCS, Dr. Sligar replaces Larimore Cummins, M.D. who will now server as Chairman of the Board. In his role as CEO, Dr. Cummins has been involved in various aspect of operational and management activity at AdapCS, including business development. He will retain some of these responsibilities in his role as Chairman. Dr. Kelly O'Keefe, the founder of AdapCS, will continue his service in the roles of Director and Chief Technical Officer.
