AdapCS Canada and DINMAR collaborate to help reduce patient wait times
AdapCS Canada Corporation and DINMAR, a leading North American healthcare information technology company, have entered into a partnership that will integrate AdapCS's Axcess.Rx™ wait-list management application with DINMAR's electronic health record system, Oacis EHR™.
"The partnership should improve the ability of healthcare organizations across Canada to better manage wait lists and report wait times of patients scheduled for surgery," says Dr. John Marshall, CEO of AdapCS Canada and former Chief of Staff at Kingston General Hospital. "DINMAR is a world-class company and we're thrilled to be partnering with them. Wait lists and resource allocation are certainly among the most vexing challenges for countries with single-payer healthcare systems."
Axcess.Rx™ was developed under the direction of Dr. Marshall, a long-time neurosurgeon and hospital administrator, and John Lott, Director of Information Analysis and Distribution for KGH. The software suite enables physicians and hospitals to effectively manage patients waiting for services and to allocate resources appropriately – certainly among the most vexing challenges for countries with single-payer healthcare systems. PARTEQ Innovations, the technology transfer agent of Kingston General Hospital, has filed for patent protection on the wait list technology and has licensed exclusive rights for commercialization to AdapCS Canada.
Axcess.Rx™ is currently in use in two Canadian provinces. Kingston General Hospital and Hotel Dieu hospitals in Kingston, Lennox and Addington County General Hospital in Napanee, and the Hospitals of the Capital District Health Authority in Nova Scotia use Axcess.Rx™, which connects with existing Admissions Discharge and Transfer (ADT), scheduling, and Electronic Health Record systems.
"DINMAR is an ideal partner because because its Oacis EHR™ provides a modular suite of core clinical applications, off-the-shelf and custom interfaces, and a built-in integration engine and enterprise master person index facility," says Dr. Marshall. "Taken together these capabilities amplify the power of hospitals’ disparate electronic health care records to reduce costs and improve hospital efficiency. Organizations can quickly and economically connect their unique and ever-changing information systems with Oacis. Moreover, where diverse clinical systems coexist, Oacis provides a unifying clinical data repository that enables a single, integrated electronic patient record."
"While Oacis EHR™ interoperates with any system, we are particularly excited about this venture with AdapCS because wait times place an enormous collective strain on the cost and quality of care in Canada," said Mark Groper, CEO of DINMAR. "We believe the combination of our two products, along with DINMAR's consulting and implementation services, will produce a particularly effective tool for reducing patient wait times."
DINMAR is a leading North American healthcare information technology solutions provider. The company's Oacis product was instrumental in launching the "open systems" revolution, which spawned many innovative technologies and clinical-interoperability standards in commercial use today.
